Privacy Policy

Draft — this policy is still being written and will be updated. Effective October 18, 2026.

1. Who we are

Crossbrain For Good ("we", "us") is a daily puzzle website at crossbrain.org, run from New Jersey. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions: crossbrainforgood@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

If you make an account: your email address, username, date of birth, password (stored encrypted — we never see it), and when you agreed to our Terms.

When you play: your guesses, results, times, streaks and badges, so we can keep your history and stats.

If you play without an account: a random ID made up by your browser, kept in your browser and in a cookie, so your games today are remembered. It isn't linked to your name or email. If you later make an account, those games move onto it.

Automatically: like almost every website, our hosting company records basic technical details such as your IP address and browser type when you visit, to keep the site running and secure.

3. How we use it

  • To run your account, and keep your streaks, stats and badges.
  • To check you're old enough to have an account (that's all your date of birth is for).
  • To send you account emails, such as sign-up and password-reset codes.
  • To keep the site fair and safe, and stop bots and abuse.
  • To show ads, which pay for the site and fund the charity.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't send you marketing emails.

4. Companies that help run the site

These companies handle information for us, only to do their part:

  • Supabase — our database and log-ins.
  • Vercel — hosts the website.
  • Cloudflare — the "are you human?" check when you sign up.
  • Resend — sends account emails.
  • Google — shows the ads (see below).

5. Ads and cookies

Ads on the site are served by Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads, to limit how often you see the same one, and to detect fraud. We ask Google to show only non-personalized ads, which are based on the page you're on rather than your browsing history or profile.

You can learn how Google uses information from sites like ours at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and manage Google's ad settings at adssettings.google.com. Visitors in some regions, such as Europe, are asked for their choice before ad cookies are used.

Our own cookies keep you logged in and remember guest play. Your browser can block or delete cookies, though some parts of the site may then stop working.

Do Not Track: we don't track you across other websites, and we don't currently change how the site works when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

6. Children and teens

You must be at least 13 to make an account, and under-18s need a parent or guardian's permission. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we delete it. Parents can contact us at crossbrainforgood@gmail.com.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Delete your account at any time in Settings. That removes your account, games, streaks and badges.
  • See, correct or delete your information, or ask a question, by emailing crossbrainforgood@gmail.com. We'll reply within 45 days.

Depending on where you live (for example New Jersey or California), you may have further rights under state law. We'll honor them — just email us.

8. How long we keep it, and how we protect it

We keep your information while your account exists, and delete it when you delete your account. Records of money received (for example, tips) are kept, unlinked from you, because we must account for every dollar. Your information is stored with the companies above, who use encryption and access controls. No website is perfectly secure, but we work to protect it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If the changes are significant, we'll tell you on the site or by email first.
